SOS Vocational Training Centre Malpotha

The SOS Vocational Training Centre in Malpotha is facilitated with all the tools and equipment it needs to provide a complete and comprehensive vocational training on agriculture. Located in Mirahawaththa, Bandarawela in Malpotha, this SOS Vocational Training Centre was established in 1991 with the aim of supporting youth from families that are on the verge of breaking down due to various economic, financial, and psychosocial reasons. This vocational training centre also provides courses for youth who grew up at SOS Children’s Villages, in order to give them good career opportunities of their choice.

Agriculture Field Assistant

This is a one year vocational training course which covers many aspects of agriculture such as botany of field crops, soil resource and ecosystem, diseases of crops, irrigation mechanism, and many more subjects that are needed in order to be effective in agricultural work. A one year theoretical and practical training is provided in which all aspects of the subject are covered. Upon successful completion of the one year course, the student will be awarded the NVQ Level 3 certificate. The students are later allocated to a job in the agricultural field for on-the-job training where they will put to practice what they have learnt.
