The Children without parental care or at risk of losing care will be adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. While not directly affected by the pandemic, they will be impacted by temporary or permanent loss of parental care, their families losing jobs, slipping into poverty, being displaced or forced to move. Food insecurity is increasing.

SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka was able to do its part to the best of its capabilities in contributing to the social support system dynamic of the matter via its Family Strengthening Programme. Despite of the strict curfew imposed, SOS Children’s Villages was able to provide all 677 families with relief packages worth LKR 1000 each.

The TUI Care Foundation launched the TUI Academy Sri Lanka which will provide underprivileged youth in Sri Lanka with hospitality training. The three-year project will be implemented in partnership with the International Tourism Partnership’s Youth Career Initiative and SOS Children’s Villages Sri Lanka.
